fruity fatwa

amongst the climate change fruit, there are some classic old english favourites – plums, apples, cherries, plus a few forgotten favourites – the medlars, quince, mulberries…only two pears though, and i think this winter i may put that to rights

this old variety, Josephine de Malines, is so far from the stringy fruit of the supermarkets as to be unrecognisable…it’s hard to exaggerate the difference…it’s as if the tescos of this world have a fruity fatwa on anything with flavour
