le chapeau est sur ma tête?

welly-sock, the well known affliction where your sock has an untreatable urge to slip off your heel inside your boot…now rivalled

first noticed in the american civil war, some amputees are able to ‘feel’ their missing limb, and with this ‘phantom limb’ they may even experience related pain….so called phantom limb syndrome…now the first recorded case of ‘phantom hat syndrome’

having spent an entire day planting trees in the sun, hat deflecting the rays, i cast the damp thing off on entering the house, only to find myself reaching for it every so often, as if to remove it again…on and on, all evening

i had a bath, i even washed my hair…still there, the phantom hat….i went to sleep, i woke up, still, though fainter, the phantom hat was there….still invisibly protecting me from those rays
