Previous Projects
In 2004, we developed an approach to put public aspirations for their local landscapes into the heart of the decision making process. Using two county pilots, our work for CPRE resulted in a toolkit for national application. Unlocking the Landscape: Preparing a Community Landscape Character Assessment Statement, is a step by step guide to engaging and facilitating local involement in guiding the future of our landscapes, resulting in the delivery of a planning-friendly Community LC Statement.
Between 2003-05 we developed a groundbreaking approach to considering landscape sensivity and capacity for the Countryside Agency. Influential in clearly distinguishing between sensitivity as a landscape-centred concept and capacity as an change-related impact in its methodology, the two phase pilot study work in Shropshire formed the basis for the nationally applicable method publsihed and supported by the Countryside Agency.
We worked with Countryscape in developing the National LCA Database for the Countryside Agency. This online resource provides, for the first time, a publically accessible, dynamic and updatable LCA resource for public and decdison makers alike.
We have been involved in developing an Intregrated Landscape Framework for many clients in recent years, including Dorset, Suffolk, Norfolk, Kent, Shropshire, Milton Keynes, Hertfordshire, Shrewsbury and Atcham local authorities. We continue to work with the four conservation agencies, The Countryside Agency, English Nature, English Heritage and the Environment Agency, and in partnership with many other consultants, including the Landscape Partnership and White Consultants.
Mark was involved in the development of the LANDMAP Manual for Wales, the GIS based approach supported by the Countryside Council for Wales launched in 2001, and continues to be involved in many of the LANDMAP projects throughout Wales.
